Safety Tips

In Florida, lights are required when riding at night and children under 16 must wear a helmet. If at any time you detect any looseness, tightness, noises, or unusual behavior of the bicycle, bring it to our shop and we will determine what the problem is. In any case, do not continue to ride the bicycle and aggravate the problem. We can fix your bicycle only if we are made aware of the malfunction.

Checklist:

  • Air pressure and tire condition satisfactory—Wheels properly secured (check axle nuts / quick-release skewers).

  • Stem and seat post secure (ensure these do not twist / move under pressure).

  • Ensure wheels are true (they spin without wobbles)—Check the general condition of the bicycle by performing a visual inspection and by lightly bouncing the bicycle to listen for unusual noises (loose parts will rattle/buzz).

  • Check the braking and gear shifting by doing a short test ride before departing on your longer ride.

Please Read Carefully:
If at any time you have a fall on your bicycle you need to carefully inspect it before you continue riding. You should pay special attention to the quick release skewers on both wheels for looseness and to the rear derailleur for straightness. In any case, you should abstain from shifting the gears and you should bring the bicycle to the shop as soon as possible and have us inspect it for damage. We will gladly provide a free estimate if there are any damages. Remember that the maintenance of the bicycle and the mitigation of the damages is your responsibility.

Following Are Exclusions To Warranty Claims

A. Warranties are extended only to the original owner.

B. Failure must not be due to an accident, abuse, misuse, neglect; weathering, lack of maintenance, normal wear, road hazards or repairs performed by anyone other than UBC mechanics.

 C. Failure of any part must occur while the bicycle is being ridden in a normal manner, on a smooth surface, and with both wheels on the ground.

 D. Although some bicycles are designed for racing, stunt riding, freestyle, or trials riding, failure of any part during any of these activities voids the warranty of that part. These activities are entered into at the risk of the owner.

 E. All servicing must be done by UBC technicians. We will not reimburse for repairs performed, or parts purchased, elsewhere.

 F. We are not responsible for travel or shipping charges.

 G. We do not assume any responsibility for incidental or consequential damages and expenses.

 H. Bent frames, forks, rims, handlebars, seat posts, and cranks are usually the result of an accident, misuse or abuse.

 I. Possible warranty parts, frames, and/or bicycles must be brought to the store assembled and as they were purchased. Failure to do so may result in an inability to process the warranty claim.
